(WSIL) -- There are a lot of awesome kids in our area, and not all of them are scoring touchdowns or making baskets. They've given back to the community or might have invented something.
Meet 11-year-old Aaron Nauman from Herrin.
Aaron goes around his neighborhood picking up trash. Tuesday, we accompanied him as he did his part in keeping Herrin clean.
"I just don't like seeing trash around, and, like, when there is trash around, it makes it look like a poor neighborhood. I just don't like seeing trash around, and it makes the environment not healthy," he explained.
Three years ago, Aaron also saved a 5-year-old boy's life at his neighborhood playground.
He is constantly putting his community first, and that makes Aaron a wicked awesome kid.
