BENTON (WSIL) -- Another local school is going back to full-remote learning, as faculty and staff, cope with the impacts of COVID-19.

Health officials are reporting 10,000 new cases of the virus Sunday, this comes after three days in-a-row of record case counts, peaking at 12,438 Saturday.

Those high case numbers are impacting our region, keeping grade schoolers in Benton home until after the Thanksgiving break.

School officials say staff and faculty members either being ill, or having to quarantine, is presenting a staffing shortage.

The grade school started off the year with in-person classes, five days a week for students who wanted to be on-campus. They also offered remote learning for parents who felt uncomfortable sending their child to the classroom.

The school is expected to reopen to in-person learning on Monday, November 30th.
