MARION (WSIL) -- Williamson County is now at the as the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department reports an uptick in cases since the end of June.

Bi-County's Director of Health Education and Emergency Preparedness Carrie Eldridge says several metrics are measured to determine if a county moves from Blue to Orange warning levels.

The state looks at positivity levels, ICU units used and emergency room visits, to name a few.

"We've currently had an uptick in cases ever since the state has opened up at the end of June," explains Eldridge. "And that's due a lot in part because people are either traveling out of state, or they are attending social gatherings, or it even has been happening because they come in close contact with other positives."

The health department continues to encourage people to follow the three W's -- Wear a mask, Watch your distance and Wash your hands.
