CHESTER (WSIL) -- After recovering from more than since the beginning of the pandemic, Randolph County is starting to see an uptick in cases again. There are now ten active cases in the county after having zero cases just last week.
"We do have one household that has several members of those ten caseloads, but we are continuing to watch and make sure that we don't have additional infections from those particular cases," said Angie Oathout with the Randolph County Health Department.
County health officials said these cases are not from the Phase 4 reopening of the state, but from out-of-state travel and travel to surrounding counties.
None of the new cases needed hospitalization, but Oathout wanted to remind everyone to keep washing their hands and to wear masks.
"I just want to make sure that everybody understands that the virus is still among us and to continue to take those precautions. And I know it's been a sacrifice, but we've all got to work together so that we can get through it," Oathout said.
Randolph County had a large outbreak of the virus in mid-April, and has since had 7 deaths and 272 recovered cases.
