(WSIL)--The Affordable Care Act will open a new enrollment period for those without insurance during the pandemic.
President Joe Biden's and Medicaid coverage to receive benefits again.
For the 36 states that are on the marketplace, a 90-day enrollment period will begin on Feb. 15.
President Biden claimed this order was made to undo what he called damage done to the Affordable Care Act during President Donald Trump's Administration.
ACA sign up is usually in the Fall, but the executive order is aimed to help those who lost insurance during the pandemic become re-enrolled.
"Of all times that we need to reinstate access to, affordability of, and extent of access to Medicaid, is now, in the middle of this COVID crisis," said President Biden.
According to , around 15 million Americans lack insurance and would be eligible for marketplace coverage.
Four million of those people would qualify for a plan without premiums.
And those at the Kaiser Foundation say that millions of people are eligible for coverage under the Affordable Care Act, and they may not even realize it.
"They're just not enrolled. Either because they didn't realize they were eligible or the process was too hard or they missed the deadlines. So it's a do over, it's a second chance," said Senior Fellow at the Kaiser Family Foundation, Karen Pollitz.
