IDPH: COVID-19 cases jump by 673

SPRINGFIELD (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has announced 673 new cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 in the state.

That brings the current total to 2,538 positive cases.

Health officials also reported seven more deaths Thursday, bringing the total number of deaths in Illinois to 26. According to IDPH, approximately 87% of fatalities are among patient 60 years of age and older.

Thirty-seven of the state's 102 counties have positive cases of COVID-19. A case by county breakdown can be found on the IDPH .
