* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Jefferson County Health Department confirms positive case for COVID-19

JEFFERSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- The Jefferson County Health Department confirms a positive COVID-19 case within Jefferson County.

The health department was notified late Thursday after a Texas man in his 50s, was traveling through Jefferson County and became very ill. He was hospitalized and tested positive for the virus. He is now in isolation at a local hospital with all the appropriate precautions being taken.

Jefferson County Health Department is notifying all known contacts he had within the county, all of which are considered lower risk due to the limited contact.

Officials are encouraging all residents to follow social distancing guidance and other recommendations to stay at home as much as possible.

The situation with the virus is rapidly changing and as information is available, the Health Department will release it. Officials are currently working with IDPH guidance in order to provide the most up-to-date information to the residents of Jefferson County.
