JOHNSON COUNTY (WSIL) -- Several Johnson County schools have worked together to come up with a plan on how to reopen.

Vienna Grade and High School, Buncombe, Cypress and New Simpson Hill, have put together a plan for parents with questions about the upcoming school year.

"They can choose to do in-person instruction for the students for five days a week or they can choose the remote learning plan," said Dean of Instruction Kathy Anderson.

For those learning virtually, they'll receive some tools.

"Our teachers will have loaded the assignments, the information through Google classroom and we are giving each student a Chromebook that they can use at school or at home," said Anderson.

Students that are physically in the classrooms will have safety measures.

"We'll have different flows for the students and walking through the hallways and getting to their classrooms. We'll also have--just breaking down lunch periods where we can have smaller groups," said Vienna High School nurse Sherie Smith.

There will also be tracking procedures to help the health department.

"Probably assigned seatings in most classes in order for us to be able to do any tracing," said Smith.

And the schools are asking parents to screen their children before coming to class.

"Part of our plan is that they will self-certify at home. So it is very important that parents take that into consideration," said Smith.

The administration says, for now, they'll continue to monitor their plan.

"We are trying to make adjustments as we get more guidance from Illinois Department of Public Health as well as the Illinois State Board of Education," said Anderson.

The says each Johnson County school will be creating their own detailed plan.
