Murray Independent School District and McCracken County schools have both decided to keep their mask mandates in place.
McCracken County Schools released a statement saying, "At this time, all McCracken County Schools current protocols will remain in place including universal masking for students, staff and visitors inside all school buildings and on buses."
Murray school leaders said based on information available for the county, the district will require face masks/coverings indoors when students arrive to their campuses and on school transportation.
The district said, "Murray Independent Schools will continue to provide in person instruction five days per week during the 2021-2022 academic year. In person instruction is the most effective approach to address the academic and social-emotional needs of our students. MISD encourages everyone eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine to strongly consider and partake after consultation with your healthcare provider. The vaccines are our best defense for a safe and healthy school year."
The schools will work with the local health department to keep students in the classroom.
