(WSIL) -- New COVID-19 cases and deaths were reported Tuesday across southern Illinois.
The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department announced a third COVID-19 related death in Williamson County.
Officials say the individual was a woman in her 80s who had underlying health conditions.
To date, there have been 68 confirmed COVID-19 cases and three deaths in Williamson County. There have been 12 confirmed cases in Franklin County.
According to the health department, of those positive cases, 53 have recovered in Williamson County and 12 have recovered in Franklin County.
Southern Seven Health Department confirmed 17 new cases of COVID-19 and one death in its region.
Health officials say a Union County resident in her 70s died as a result of COVID-19.
The new cases were:
� Alexander County: One female 40s, one female 50s, one female 60s
� Johnson County: One female 50s
� Pulaski County: One female 20s
� Union County: One female 20s, one female 30s, one female 40s, one female 60s, one female 70s, one female 80s, two males 40s, one male 50s, one male 60s, two males 70s
As of Tuesday, there have been 255 cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths in the Southern Seven area. Ninety-seven of the 255 have since recovered.
The Jackson County Heath Department was notified of one new case of COVID-19.
The health department says a woman in her 60s is thought to have acquired the disease through close contact with a known case.
The woman is being placed in isolation.
To date, there have been 290 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County, including ten deaths. As of Tuesday, 221 individuals had been released from isolation.
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 1,614 new cases of COVID-19 in the state Tuesday, including 113 additional deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 122,848 cases, including 5,525 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois.
