New COVID-19 cases reported in southern Illinois

Dozens of new COVID-19 cases were reported in southern Illinois and statewide Friday.

Illinois officials have announced more than 57-hundred new cases

of COVID-19, and 156 new deaths.

That brings the state's total to more than 930-thousand cases and nearly 16-thousand deaths.

Williamson County

58 new cases

Total Cases: 5107

Total Deaths: 99

Franklin County

36 new cases

Total Cases: 3264

Total Deaths: 39

There will be no COVID-19 updates from Southern 7 Health Department and some others in Southern Illinois the rest of the week (12/24/20 � 12/27/20) due to the Christmas holiday.

More than one-million Americans got the first of two shot of the vaccines for covid-19.

Nearly 10 million doses are out there and more on the way.

Jackson County Health Department currently anticipates that it will be at least late April 2021 before vaccination begins with the general population.
