...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

Pinckneyville football team quarantined; home opener canceled

PINCKNEYVILLE (WSIL) -- The COVID-19 pandemic is already cancelling local sporting events this Fall season.

The Pinckneyville home opener against Redbud has now been called off.

Pinckneyville High School says that one football player has tested positive for the virus with many others now showing symptoms. As a result, several students including the entire football team have been placed on quarantine due to direct exposure to the virus.

"They have done so well following protocols, but as we are our finding out first hand, playing football during this time continues to be a fragile situation," says Athletic Director, Bob Waggoner.

There is no word just yet on when or if the game will be rescheduled.
