(WSIL) -- Normally this time of year, scouts put blue bags on the front doors of households across southern Illinois.
Locals fill them with what canned and non-perishable items they can afford, and scouts return to pick up the bags and take them to area food pantries.
This year, COVID-19 health and safety precautions are changing the way the will take place.
Those wishing to donate will now bring the groceries to the scouts one of two ways.
The first option is finding the closest location where a drive-thru event is taking place on Saturday, November 21st.
Scouts and their leaders will get the food out of the car, so its a fast and easy process.
The other is going to a location with a drop-box inside, which will continue collecting items until December 13th.
The last way to donate is through the ‘Text to Give campaign –Text “SCOUTFOOD to 91999 to donate.
A $25 donations will provide up to 100 meals.
