WEST CITY (WSIL) -- The pandemic is changing holiday traditions for everyone, including local law enforcement.
The West City Police Department had to change up their annual 'Shop with a Cop' event due to COVID-19.
Instead of the children going shopping with the officers, the department shopped ahead of time and delivered the gifts to 18 children in need.
"It is harder this year, but the families also need us. It's harder on them being several of them are unemployed," said West City Officer Sarah Parke.
The police department spent about $3,500 dollars on gifts and Papa Johns donated pizzas this year as well.
