ALEXANDER COUNTY (WSIL) -- In Alexander County, where vaccination rates remain lower than the rest of Illinois, an increased effort to spread the word on available clinics is underway.
Community leaders are encouraging more participation and believe communicating benefits of getting the shot, is key.

Bishop Derek Eurales, Sr., the Lion Club DISTRICT 1-CS Governor is fully vaccinated. He says resources are available to answer questions for those hesitant in rolling up their sleeves.
"Bad news travels, but good news has a tendency not to go anywhere, let us spread the news, and let the people know, Southern Illinois, we haven't been forgotten," says Eurales. "I'm encouraging everyone to come, to get your shot, to find a place, if not today, in the future, to get your shot."
The Southern Seven Health Department is hosting a clinic in Anna on Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Main Street Center. The single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine will be administered.
Walk-ins are accepted after 10 a.m. available for the first 100 people, based on supply that day, but appointments are recommended.
