Southern Ill. health departments report new COVID-19 cases

(WSIL) -- Health department in southern Illinois have reported new COVID-19 cases.

The reports came Wednesday as the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced 828 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, including 30 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 144,013 cases, including 6,951 deaths, in 101 counties in Illinois.

Locally, new cases were confirmed Wednesday in Alexander, Franklin, Massac, Perry, Pulaski, Union, White and Williamson counties.

Alexander County

  • One female 30s
  • One male 50s

Alexander County has had 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Nine of those cases are still active.

Franklin County

  • Females: Two teenagers
  • Males: One teenager

There have been 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Franklin County. Thirteen of those individuals have since recovered.

Massac County

  • One male 30s
  • One female 40s

Massac County has had 13 total confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of those, six are still active.

Perry County

  • adult male in his teens
  • female in her 20s
  • female in her 60s

To date, there have been 54 cases of COVID-19, including one death, in Perry County. Of the positive cases, 44 have been released from isolation.

Pulaski County

  • Two females 30s
  • One male 60s

There have been 76 cases of COVID-19 in Pulaski County. Health officials say 27 cases are still active.

Union County

  • One female 20s
  • Two males 20s
  • Two females 30s
  • Two females 40s
  • One male 40s

Union County has had 187 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 19 deaths. There are currently 59 active cases.

White County

  • Male in his 20s

Health officials say the man is doing well and is in isolation. This is the fifth confirmed case of COVID-19 in White County.

Williamson County

  • Male: One in their 50s, two in their 60s

There have been 123 cases of COVID-19, including four related deaths, in Williamson County. Of the positive cases, 80 have recovered.
