(WPTA21) - Vaccination in the United States reached another high water mark last week, when an average of 3.3 million Americans received a COVID-19 shot per day.
That figure was a 10 percent increase from the week prior, according to government statistics, and is triple the vaccine rate of three months ago.
It comes, however, as most providers halt use of one of the three authorized vaccines.
The FDA and CDC on Tuesday  on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine so they could take a closer look at several blood clot cases that may be related to it.
One of the cases involved the death of an individual.
"CDC will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Wednesday to further review these cases and assess their potential significance," theagency said. "FDA will review that analysis as it also investigates these cases. Until that process is complete, we are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution."
The "pause" is expected to reduce -- at least temporarily -- the supply of available vaccines, which could put an end to the 7-week trend of higher vaccination rates in the country.

In total, more than 122 million Americans have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 75 million are fully vaccinated.
That adds up to a total of 192 vaccines administered.
