(WREX) � It's officially been one year since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general of WHO, said at a briefing in Geneva on this date last year that the agency is “deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity� of the outbreak.
He also expressed concern about “the alarming levels of inaction.�
In the past year, there's been more than 118 million confirmed cases of the virus across the world, according to Johns Hopkins University.

More than 2,600,000 people have died from the virus, including 529,267Â Americans who have lost their life to the virus, per Johns Hopkins University.
