MARION (WSIL) -- It's kitten season and there are an abundance of homeless cats and kittens in our region hoping to find a new home.
Meet Joelle, one of Finding Forever Animal Rescue's longest residents.
"She was technically adopted from us as a kitten and then we're not sure what happened along the lines but she ended up at a local animal control. We went and picked her up, couldn't get in touch with the original adopters so she's been back with us for awhile now," says Becca Baird, Director of the rescue.
Baird says Joelle likes to play but loves to soak up attention. "She's calm. She's a very calm girl. She is young. She's only two but she like to hang out, sit around the chairs, lounge out by the sun or the windows. She's very easy to please."
Boots is also looking for a "Furever Home" and is another one of the rescue's longer residents.
"She's around two years old as well. She came in as a stray. She had previously had kittens and they're coming into us this week. Boots is very loving, loves attention, loves to play. She's very easy to please as well but she definitely loves everything in life," adds Baird.
Baird says Boots loves to romp and play once she's comfortable. "Definitely takes a little bit more of an adjustment for her. We think she will do great in a home setting with other cats but in here it's a very small room. She's a little bit more stressed out with the other cats than say Joelle is but she'll get along just fine once she gets use to everybody in a home setting."
Due to the high amount of cats at the shelter, Baird says this week they're lowering adoption fees. "Typically our adoption fees for adults are 75. Kittens are 125. This week they're 60 for one or 80 for two. They are spayed or neutered, microchipped and started on vaccines so all of our adults have had all of their core vaccines."
