ANNA (WSIL) -- Meet Daisy, a 10 year old chihuahua mix looking for her 'Furever Home'.

"She is a good girl. She just makes it a little difficult when you first meet her. She's a little grouchy but she's a good sweet girl once she gets to know you and she just wants to be in somebody's lap," explain Karee Sweitzer, Facility Manager at PAWS Place in Anna.

Sweitzer says Daisy doesn't always make the best first impression, but she just needs a little time. "She does a little bit of snapping when she first gets to know you. When you go to pick her up, she kind of likes things done at her own pace which is okay. Just give her a chance and then she'll warm up to you."

Sweitzer says Daisy has made big improvements while at the shelter, but would do best in a quiet home. "No kids, probably no cats. She does like to chase cats. Probably an only dog or maybe one or two smaller dog her size. I don't think she's too wild about the bigger dogs. She's kind of intimidated by them but another dog her size might be great. She loves to play with the other dogs."

Once Daisy begins to trust you Sweitzer says she's a great pet. "Just got to let her settle in and find her way around. What I've found works best is just to get down on the floor with her and let her get in your lap and then she's good to go. She'll give you smooches and kisses and all that. Once she gets to that stage then you've got this. You've got somebody that wants to sit in your lap and just be loved on."

Although Daisy is considered a senior, she still has plenty of energy.

"She's got a lot of years left in her and she's very spunky and likes to run around and play so there's a lot of life left in this girl," adds Sweitzer.
