MURPHYSBORO (WSIL) -- There are many homeless pets across the region and we're trying to help them find their "Furever Homes." Meet Juniper, a two and a half year old Shar-Pei mix, looking for a family to call her own.
"Juniper is one of our mama dogs. She came to us with seven puppies and a very dramatic story," says Siri LeBaron, Director of Development for Wright-Way Rescue in Murphysboro.
LeBaron says says Juniper was involved in a high speed police chase. "The car did a full roll over. When they caught up to the people and everything they found tons of meth, cash, weapons and paraphernalia, and a mama dog and her seven puppies."
While Juniper and all seven puppies survived, LeBaron says she was in bad shape. "Her fur was almost gone. She was emaciated and our rescue partner strongly suspects that people had been testing batched of meth on her."
Despite a tough beginning, Juniper has made a full recovery and is full of life.
"She really likes to hang out with people and she's food motivated so she's really ready to start learning more obedience and how to communicate with people. She would love a family that wants to take her on walks, teach her some tricks," adds LeBaron.
Juniper gets along with everyone and this weekend her adoption fee is waved for approved adopters.
"She's a really good girl. She's such a sweet girl and she has come so far with her health. Whoever gets her is lucky, going to be super lucky," says LeBaron.
