1 dead, 1 injured after three-vehicle crash involving a tractor

QULIN, Mo. (WSIL) -- One person is dead and another person injured after a three-vehicle crash on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) said the crash happened at 5:40 a.m. on November 7, along Missouri Highway 53, roughly one mile south of Qulin.

MSHP reported a 69-year-old man from Malden was driving a 2006 Ford Escort when the vehicle hit a John Deere Tractor in the rear before crossing the center line and hitting a 2021 Buick Encore.

The driver of the Buick Encore was reported as a 64-year-old man from Poplar Bluff. State police said he was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Jim Akers.

The driver of the Ford Escort was taken to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Both the Ford Escort and Buick Encore were considered totaled while the John Deere tractor had minor damage.

MSHP reported this as the 57th death related to a traffic crash in southeast Missouri for 2024.
