...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

1 dead after truck vs semi crash in Williamson Co.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) � Illinois State Police say one person is dead after Friday morning’s crash on Route 166.

The driver of a pickup truck crossed the center line and hit a semi head on. The semi left the roadway, overturned and caught fire

State Police say the pickup driver died. The semi driver was flown from the scene to an out of state hospital.

No names have been released.  

Route 166 was shut down for more than six hours for crash cleanup and investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (WSIL) � An accident has closed Route 166 south of Route 13.

Illinois State Police tell News 3 that around 7:35 Friday morning, a pickup truck and a tractor trailer collided on the curve near Old Creal Springs Road, and one of the vehicles caught fire.

IDOT expects the roadway to be closed for a couple of hours and asks that drivers avoid the area.
