18-year-old dead after single-vehicle crash

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. (WSIL) -- One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Thursday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash happened at 9:40 p.m. on December 5, along Highway 80, just east of East Prairie.

MSHP stated an 18-year-old man from East Prairie was driving a 2002 Honda Accord when the vehicle went off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police said the driver did not have a safety device on.

This is the 66th traffic related death reported for the southeast Missouri area for 2024.
