SIKESTON, MO (WSIL) -- Four firefighters are recovering after a roof collapsed on them as they worked to knock down flames at a home near Sikeston on Friday.
According to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety it happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday on Bohannon Drive just outside of town.
Crews had been working to extinguish the flames at that unoccupied home when the roof collapsed. All four of the injured firefighters were taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center or St. Francis.
One of the firefighters remained in the hospital overnight. The others were released. All are expected to recover.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
