American Red Cross seeking volunteers for upcoming training

American Red Cross seeking Disaster Action Team volunteers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL)—The American Red Cross of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas is hosting an upcoming training session and is seeking volunteers. 

Anyone interested can attend a training for the organization's Disaster Action Team. 

The Red Cross says the team is the first to arrive at a disaster scene and helps provide immediate assistance to families and communities. 

Those interested in volunteering will learn how to help their local community in response to disasters such as floods, tornados, and house fires. 

The training will be held on Saturday, March 8th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Red Cross chapter office. 

Organizers say lunch will be provided.
