...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Daily heat index values up to 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high humidity
may cause heat illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

WSIL(Carterville) -- Today will be the perfect example of a typical January day; chilly, cloudy and even some flurries. No major impacts are expected as a result of the morning flurries. Clouds will continue to build today. Temperatures across the area in the 20s with highs today reaching the lower 40s.

Going into tonight, temperatures will dip back down into the 20s and clouds will remain. A cold front is expected to make its way through the area and temperatures Friday will reflect that.

Looking ahead to the weekend and the start of the next work week, a warm up is forecasted.
