CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- A local woman is organizing a Blackout Tuesday event in Carbondale.
Tuesday evening, there will an expo featuring Black business owners and a march.
The event was inspired by rapper T.I., who is calling for a country-wide protest for Black people not to shop and if they do, to only spend money on Black-owned businesses.
"We can march all day long, but there needs to be other factors included with the marching, and boycotting is one of them," said Carbondale NAACP Criminal Justice Chair Nancy Maxwell.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the First Christian Church on West Monroe Street.
