CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- After a successful turnout, Blackout Tuesday in Carbondale will now be a monthly event.
The nationwide event on July 7th was the brain-child of rapper T.I., created to encourage people to spend one day shopping at local Black businesses.
Local organizer, Nancy Maxwell, says she received so many requests for another event she says it was a must to do another one.
"I personally would like to see: we're keeping it in the news, we keep doing activities and positive things in the community," she said.
She also says she expects new vendors will be participating this time around.
The upcoming event is scheduled for next Tuesday, August 4th and kicks off at the First Christian Church of Carbondale from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
