MARION (WSIL) -- Rock and roll royalty is coming to Southern Illinois next summer.

Blues legend Buddy Guy will perform at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center on Tuesday July 14 at 7 p.m. The seven-time Grammy award winner is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Promoter Cody Dunbar worked with the civic center and radio station KGMO to bring Guy to Marion. Dunbar says Guy may be the most decorated artist that the civic center has ever hosted.

Originally born in Louisiana, Buddy Guy took his guitar to Chicago in 1957 and played with fellow artists like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. Guitarists like Eric Clapton and John Mayer have cited Guy as a major influence in their careers.
