...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/
FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values between 100 and 106.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The first prolonged stretch of heat and
humidity of the season will amplify health impacts. Health
impacts will build with each successive day in the heat and
humidity.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke.

City of Carbondale releases election petition packets

CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- The City of Carbondale is already looking ahead to next year's elections.

The City will hold an election for three City Council member's seats for four-year terms.

Those seats are currently held by Jessica Bradshaw, Carolin Harvey and Jeff Doherty.

are now available in the City Clerk's Office.

"For anybody interested in running and making a difference here in Carbondale, they're going to want to pick up an election petition packet," said Carbondale public relations officer Roni LeForge.

Forms must be completed and submitted to the City Clerk's office by November 23rd.
