(WSIL) -- The Aquatic Zoo water park in Mt. Vernon, IL will not be opening this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mt. Vernon Mayor Jon Lewis and other city leaders agreed on the closure at Monday's City Council meeting.
Lewis says the decision was not an easy one to make, but the safety of Mt. Vernon residents comes first.
The popular attraction was originally scheduled to open on May 25th.
