PULASKI, Ill. (WSIL) -- Southwater has issued a boil water order for residents in Pulaski County.

The order affects those from the Village of Pulaski south, including Feather Trail and the City of Mounds.

The Pulaski County Emergency Management Agency announced the boil water order is due to a main break and will remain in effect until further notice.

Residents are advised to boil water before using it for drinking or cooking.

The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.

When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
