ULLIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Shawnee Community College's Cosmetology Club is asking the public for bags so they can help out hurricane victims.

The school organization is urging the public to donate bags and drop them off at their cosmetology department on campus.

The bags will then be turned into warming mats for the homeless people who were impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Shawnee Community College stated it takes 500 - 700 plastic bags to make one 6X3 warming mat.

Bags collected can be dropped off in the Cosmetology Hall at the Main Campus. They are collecting the plastic grocery bags starting on November 14 through December 16.
