(WSIL) -- Texans felt the sting of those bitterly cold winter winds, and now we'll be feeling the sting of higher gas prices because of their winter weather.
Refineries all across the southwest had to close because of power outages and a natural gas shortage. That means we could see gas prices go up by almost 30 cents per gallon.
Experts predict that we could be paying close to $3.00 per gallon by Summer due to this winter.
Across our region, gas has reached $2.75 per gallon in Mount Vernon, IL. It's $2.78 in Harrisbug, $2.69 in Murphysboro, and $2.32 in Paducah, KY.
The cheapest spot for gas right now is in Cape Girardeau, where it's going for $2.16 per gallon.
