JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. -- A portion of I-64 eastbound lanes is scheduled to close overnight in Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office alerted the public, stating IDOT is starting on Friday, July 12 from 7 p.m. and will stay closed until it reopens at 6 a.m. on July 13.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation , the road closure is from mile marker 62 through mile marker 73.
"This is to facilitate patching of the payment failures," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
Jefferson County authorities also stated there will be an increased amount of traffic on IL Highway 15 during this time and you are "strongly encouraged" to seek alternative routes.
