(WSIL) -- A Cairo woman is in custody in connection to the death of a child.
On September 3, 2020 Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Investigation (DCI) were called to investigate the death of a 4 month old girl from Alexander County.
During the investigation, DCI agents learned Carolyn Whittaker, 31 of Cairo, was watching the baby at the time of the incident.
After an investigation, the Alexander County State's Attorney Zach Gowin charged Whittaker with endangering the life of a child and involuntary manslaughter on November 11, 2020.
Whittaker was arrested on November 16, 2020 and is being held in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond.
