CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL) -- Monday evening hundreds of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church need a new place to worship after the place of worship was set on fire.
Stake President Kevin Dickson told News 3 he arrived at the church at approximately 9:45 Sunday evening when he saw the flames.
Dickson said he feels gratitude no one was inside of the building and no one of the members suffered any injury.
The church is insured, but the members of the congregation will have to find a new place to worship until the building is rebuilt.
The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Monday afternoon stating deputies arrested and formally charged 45-year-old, Christopher Scott Pritchard, for the church's arson.

Pritchard has been charged with property damage in the first dgeree - hate crime, arson, burglary and stealing.
Dickson says when he looks at the hull of the building, he sees a lot of memories taken away.
"There's a lot of memories that a lot of people have here. This is a very important place, this is where they worship its were they find their faith in Jesus Christ," said Stake President Kevin Dickson.
Dickson said they do not have a plan for what is next, but they have already begun to look at different alternatives and said many people have reached out to offer them help.
