Domestic disturbance report leads to arrest in Metropolis, one taken to hospital

METROPOLIS, Ill. (WSIL) -- Metropolis Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on June 7 in the 100 block of East 21st Street.

After speaking to the victim, Metropolis officers said the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Levi Lewis, had attacked the victim before fleeing the scene.

Police said the victim had visible injuries and she was taken to Massac Memorial for treatment.

A search involving officers and deputies ensued for the suspect. Police said a Metropolis K9 officer located Lewis on Metropolis Street near Hope Lane.

According to online court records, Lewis faces Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangulation and Domestic Battery charges.
