Five People Shot in Southeast Missouri, Multiple Agencies Investigating

CHARLESTON, Mo. --Authorities are investigating a shooting which led to six people shot and injured in Charleston on Monday morning.

The Charleston Department of Public Safety (DPS) stated the shooting incident took place at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, near the intersection of Sy Williams and Vine Streets.

Officers started investigating the incident. Police said a total of five people were shot, however, none have life-threatening injuries.

Charleston DPS said in a release, the "initial investigation indicates several of the victims might have been caught in the crossfire of other people shooting."

Area agencies are assisting with investigating this incident and trying to determine if this shooting was connected to any other recent shootings in the area.
