Mayfield drug arrests: meth and guns seized in police operation

MAYFIELD, Ky. (WSIL) -- A drug investigation in Graves County led to the arrest of two individuals on Wednesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m.

Keon K. Boyd, 26, and Vanessa M. Vasquez, 24, were apprehended by Graves County Sheriff's detectives and Mayfield Police near North 13th Street and West James Street. Boyd attempted to flee but was stopped after a brief pursuit and foot chase.

During a foot chase with Boyd, the sheriff's office said the suspect threw a loaded Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol, but, officers eventually caught him in a backyard along North 12th Street.

Detectives said they found more than one pound of crystal methamphetamine, ammunition and firearms in the vehicle, including a loaded AR-15 style rifle.

Boyd and Vasquez were cited with multiple charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine. Both have extensive criminal histories and are currently held in out-of-county detention centers. The investigation is ongoing.
