(WSIL) -- A Marion woman that has been missing for nearly 6 months has been found dead in northern Indiana and her accused killer is now in custody.
On July 19, 2020, family members of 46-year-old Laura Wolfe reported her as a missing person to the Marion Police Department. Â As Illinois authorities continued to investigate, information developed that Wolfe had recently traveled through La Porte County, Indiana.
The La Porte County Sheriff's Office says human remains were found by a farmer on October 28th, 2020 in rural Springfield, Indiana. The human remains were then sent to the University of Indianapolis for examination.
In December of 2020, the remains were identified as being that of Wolfe. Upon evaluating the investigation and forensic results, the La Porte County Coroner’s Office ruled the manner of her death as a homicide. Â
Early in the investigation, 39-year-old Lynn Ware Jr. of Martin, Tennessee was considered as a person of interest. On December 22, probable Cause was granted in La Porte County Superior Court and an arrest warrant was issued for Ware for the offense of murder. Â
On December 31, 2020, Ware was taken into custody in O’Fallon, Illinois. He waived extradition and is being transported to the La Porte County Jail.
The investigation remains open and ongoing.
