MT. VERNON, Ill. (WSIL) -- A Mt. Vernon man was arrested and faces multiple charges in relation to a shooting which resulted in three people shot, police said.
The Mount Vernon Police Department, with the Mt. Vernon Mayor John Lewis, stated officers responded to the 1100-block of Lamar for a shooting report on October 12, at 11:33 p.m.
Three people were shot and sent to local hospitals, police stated. Those three were then taken to hospital in St. Louis and were said to have serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police started investigating the scene, along with crime scene investigators as well.
Police said the suspect was Timothy Boyd, 37 of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Authorities then started looking for Boyd.
On October 17, Boyd was found at a hotel in Carlyle, Illinois, by the US Marshals Task Force, with Mt. Vernon detectives, the Mt. Vernon Police Department detailed in a report. Boyd was then arrested without incident.
Myleika Whitelow, 38 of Centrailia, was in the hotel room with Boyd, police said. Whitelow faces a charge of Aiding/Concealing a Fugitive in relation to this incident.
Boyd was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and was incarcerated on an Illinois IDOC parole violation. Police say he faces charges of Attempted Murder, two counts of Aggravated Battery with a firearm and Armed Habitual Offender.
"Mt. Vernon Police Patrol Officers and Detectives worked many tireless hours following up on leads and using various investigative techniques to ensure Boyd was located and apprehended to protect our community from his extremely violent and dangerous acts," the Mount Vernon Police Department and Mayor John Lewis stated.
