WOODLAWN, Ill. -- A man faces several charges after a report of suspected child abuse led to search warrants at a home in Mt. Vernon.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said personnel from their office responded to a home in Woodlawn on March 27, 2024, for a report of suspected child abuse which involved a 4-year-old.
Authorities started investigating and interviewed multiple people which led to search warrants for a home in the 300-block of Harrison Street in Mt. Vernon. Authorities also had search warrants for electronic devices which were served on April 9 and 11.
The sheriff's office said evidence was collected and was then sent to the state's attorney's office in Jefferson County.
On June 5, Zachary K. Taylor, 37 of Mt. Vernon, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
According to online court records, Taylor faces charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a victim under 13 years and two counts of child phonography.
Online court records state Taylor is due in court on June 11 for a preliminary hearing and detention hearing in Jefferson County.
