CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (WSIL) -- Cape Girardeau Police are investigating a shooting on Village Drive which occurred on September 11. Now, police have released the name of the suspect who is still sought and is considered armed and dangerous.
Cape Girardeau police officers first responded to the 1100-block on Wednesday evening around 5:45.
Police later said the shooting happened on Village Drive and one person was sent to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
Cape Girardeau police updated the investigation on September 13, stating one person is still sought but is now facing charges.
Chono Montgomery, 40 of Mason, Tennessee, faces a Class A felony assault in the first degree, two armed criminal action charges and a Class B felony assault in the first degree, police reported.

Southeast Missouri State University issued a statement about the incident. It reads as follows:
On the evening of Wednesday, September 11, a shooting took place at the Village on the Green Apartment Complex, located on North Sprigg Street, across from the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.
No SEMO students were harmed in the incident.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department has since cleared the scene, but the suspect remains at large.
Authorities are searching for a white Dodge Charger in connection with the case.
