Police looking for suspect after 20-year-old shot and killed

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Police are looking for a suspect after one person was shot and killed on Monday.

The Charleston Department of Public Safety said it happened in the 500-block of West Ada Street at about 4 a.m. on January 1.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was shot multiple times. He was then taken to a local hospital and later died.

Police said the victim was identified as Malik Jones, 20 of Caruthersville.

Caruthersville police are following leads and looking to identify witnesses.

Anyone with any information on this incident are urged to call the Charleston DPS at 573-683-3737.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
