SIKESTON, Mo. (WSIL) -- Sikeston Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers responded to a robbery which was reported at a local business in New Madrid County late Sunday, June 8.

Police said the victim reported being attacked and robbed by a group outside the business.

Police said one individual demanded the victim's cell phone and, after receiving it, assaulted the victim and retrieved a semi-automatic rifle from a vehicle. The suspect then pointed the weapon at the victim, police reported.

Sikeston officers shared a description of the suspect's vehicle with nearby agencies. Authorities said deputies with the New Madrid County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle, which led to the arrest of 18-year-old Davion C. Thatch from Sikeston.

Officers said they found a semi-automatic rifle matching the victim's description in the vehicle.

Thatch faces first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and third-degree assault charges. A no-bond warrant was issued for these charges.

Additionally, Sikeston DPS said they previously took a report on June 6 of Thatch is accused of pointing a weapon at another person. Online court records show Thatch faces charges of fourth-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon related to this incident.

Sikeston DPS expressed gratitude to New Madrid County Sheriff's deputies for their assistance in Thatch's apprehension. They urge anyone with information on these incidents to contact their department or use the anonymous tip line at 573-475-3774.
