MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) -- The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into a suspected "puppy mill" on May 2, 2025.
The sheriff's office said their deputies discovered a large number of dogs in poor conditions at the closed Reidland Veterinary Clinic on Reidland Road.
Authorities said they obtained a search warrant and deputies found 124 dogs living without ventilation, electricity, or climate control. The sheriff's office also said animals were found on soiled carpet amidst feces and urine.
Suzanne Alt, a 66-year-old woman from Woodlawn, Illinois, rented the building, the sheriff's office said in a report. Investigators also reported she was already under scrutiny in Illinois for the same dogs.
Alt was cited with 111 counts of Inhumane Treatment of Animals.
The McCracken County animal cruelty investigator, alongside McCracken County Animal Control, is continuing the investigation.
