MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (WSIL) -- A 17-year-old male was arrested after being accused of leading deputies on a multi-county chase late Thursday night.

The pursuit began when a McCracken County Sheriff's reported one of their deputies who noticed a vehicle speeding on Benton Road without headlights. The sheriff's office said the driver refused to stop, prompting the chase.

The teenager sped onto US 68 and then US 62 towards Calvert City, tossing beer cans out the window, the sheriff's office reported. The Marshall County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit. Authorities said the pursuit ended near the Kentucky Dam bridge.

The juvenile was cited with speeding, reckless driving, no registration, fleeing or evading police, criminal littering and wanton endangerment. He was taken to McCracken County Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.

A female passenger in the vehicle was released without charges.
