Two arrested after authorities investigate retail theft report at business in western Kentucky

PADUCAH. Ky. (WSIL) -- Two people were arrested after deputies responded to a report of retail theft at a local business in western Kentucky.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said their deputies went out to a local business in the 4700-block of Cairo Road on January 13, for a retail theft investigation.

Deputies started investigating once they got there. The sheriff's office said Matthew Rogers, 37 of Paducah, was suspected of shoplifting some items from the business.

Deputies said they tried to find Rogers throughout the day on Monday, but couldn't find him.

However, at around 7:30 p.m., the sheriff's office said the suspected vehicle was spotted on camera and then later pulled over. 

At this time, the sheriff's office reported their deputies arrested Rogers on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. The passenger in the vehicle was Britney Burlingame, 23 of Paducah, and she was also arrested on an outstanding bench warrant.

Deputies searched the vehicle and drugs, drug paraphernalia and evidence from the theft was found, according to the sheriff's office.

Britney Burlingame was cited with a bench warrant for probation violation.

Both Rogers and Burlingame was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
